ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

Investigators have determined that the vehicle being sought in the hit-and-run death of a 15-year-old girl in November was metallic purple or black.

Haley Smith was walking with friends on Kenton Morrison Road around 8:30 p.m. Nov. 16 when a driver plowed into her and kept driving.

Investigators are seeking a small pickup or SUV similar to a Chevrolet S-10 pickup or S-10 Blazer that should have damage to the passenger side headlight area and a missing or recently replaced passenger side mirror.

There may also have been damage to the passenger side windshield and passenger side A-pillar, which supports the windshield.

Paint chips located at the scene were analyzed to help indicate the color of the vehicle.

Anyone with any information about the fatal crash is asked to call Deputy J.D. McGinnis at 904-209-1498 or Crimestoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
