JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A suspicious package was found in the Duval County Courthouse on Wednesday afternoon, prompting an evacuation and road closures.

Jacksonville police said the package was found about 2:30 p.m. in the Clerk of Courts Office on the second floor of the courthouse. The immediate area was evacuated, and no one was injured.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office bomb squad was investigating.

Police gave no package description, saying only that the item was suspicious. Jacksonville Fire-Rescue initially said it was a white powder incident, and several employees said the same.

It's unknown if the package was addressed to a specific person, but it was found in the felony clerk's office.

Pearl Street between Adams and Duval streets was closed.
