Why your digital device could be hurting you

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Our electronic gadgets have become a huge part of our everyday lives, but they could also be hurting you. Here are three things hi-tech gadgets may be doing to your body.

Back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain could all be caused by your cell phone. Experts say constant use of your cell phone can cause muscle pain and even headaches. Looking down at digital devices puts unnatural strain on our neck because of the weight of holding up the head.

A new study by the UK United Chiropractic Association suggests that the bad posture created by using these devices can also lead to pulmonary disease and cardiovascular problems because it restricts breathing.

As a result of not taking full breaths, less oxygen is taken into the body and the heart must work harder.

So, shut these devices off, take regular breaks from using them and be aware of your positioning. Keep your shoulders back and hold your head so that your ears are directly over your shoulders when you chat or text.

Digital devices are not the only things that can create bad posture, be aware of your body even for actions such as reading a book.
