JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A woman is recovering at UF Health Jacksonville after the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said she was dragged alongside a vehicle while trying to get out of it in the New Town area.

Just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a traffic crash with injuries at the intersection of Wilcox and State streets.

Police said the woman had been in an argument with the man who was driving and was dragged by the vehicle when she tried to get out.

The case is being investigated by patrol officers as a traffic crash with possible alcohol involvement.

The woman was originally thought to be in life-threatening condition but was upgraded after medical attention at UF Health.

This story will be updated if new information becomes available.
