No injuries in Orange Park bus crash

Charges pending against bus driver for failure to yield at a stop sign

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A Clay County school bus was involved in a crash in the Orange Park area, Monday morning, but the Florida Highway Patrol that no one was injured.

Around 6:30 a.m. a school bus driven by 30-year-old Crystal Crews was going east, exiting a parking lot and attempting to turn on to Debarry Avenue. A vehicle driven by 65-year-old Jack Rhyne was going north on Debarry Avenue and the front of his vehicle collided with the front of the bus.

Both vehicles were able to pull into the parking lot after the crash.

There was a 14-year-old on the bus at the time of the crash, but no one was injured. We do not yet know where the bus was headed or what school the student was from.

Crews later told troopers that she stopped at the stop sign and checked for traffic, but did not see Rhyne's vehicle due to the high bushes in the median.

Charges are pending against the school bus driver for failure to yield at a stop sign, according to the FHP report.
