ATLANTA, Ga. -

Zoo Atlanta is searching for an owl after it went missing over the weekend.

Zoo spokeswoman Keisha Hines says the owl missing is a male barn owl, about 10 inches tall, named Soren.  She says the owl was part of a training session Sunday when he flew from trainers.

Soren is equipped with tracking equipment, but Hines says he may no longer be wearing the tracking device.

According to Hines, Soren has a leather anklet on each leg, as shown in the picture above.  His left leg also includes a gold band.

Zoo Atlanta says the public has no reason to be threatened as Soren is not a danger to adults or pets.  The zoo says Soren has the skills to find food on his own, so he might search on the ground.
