Ray Arthur Quinn

AGE:  66

FAMILY:  Wife of 45 years, Addrenne; 2 daughters: Cindy and Susan

OCCUPATION:  Retire director of executive services, Florida Department of Military Affairs; Florida National Guard (30 years)

EDUCATION: Civilian: high school;  Military: U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE:  St. Johns County Commissioner (2010-2011); St. Johns County Planning and Zoning Agency

WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE TOP THREE ISSUES IN THIS RACE?

  1. Job Creation; we must create quality jobs in St. Johns County to expand our tax base enabling us to better service the public without raising taxes.
  2. Invest in infrastructure; our community and our economy depends upon quick and reliable transportation. St. Johns County needs to continue to heavily invest in infrastructure to alleviate traffic and attract new businesses
  3. Make government more efficient and effective; as a County Commissioner I will continue to look for new, innovative ways to reduce costs and improve services.

HOW CAN YOU HELP VOTERS IN A WAY THAT OTHERS RUNNING FOR THIS OFFICE CANNOT?

  • "I believe I am uniquely qualified with a record of public service that spans more than 40 years. In the Florida National Guard I enlisted as a private and attained the rank of sergeant major. I have been entrusted with the lives and welfare of the men and women that serve this great state and nation and found worthy of distinction. I have been a resident of St. Johns County for more than 27 years offering service to many organizations and charities. I served the citizens of St. Johns County as an interim commissioner from January 2010 to January 2011. These were challenging and austere times and I believe that experience enables me to lead from day one."

WHAT WOULD YOU HOPE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR ACCOMPLISHING AFTER LEAVING THIS OFFICE?

  • "I would hope to be remembered for being able to create jobs, expand our infrastructure, and improve our quality of life in St. Johns County."
