Bolles and University Christian advanced to Florida high school championship games next weekend while in Georgia, Ware County advanced to the state semifinals next Friday.
For Bolles it was lucky 13 in state semifinals games under head coach Corky Rogers who is now 13-0 in those games. Bolles defeated Yulee 45-35 to advance to next Saturday's 4A championship game against Booker T. Washington. It will be a rematch of last year's championship that Bolles won 33-25.
Arterrrious Mitchell powered the Bolles offense with four first half touchdowns as the Bulldogs scored 21 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter to put the game away.
Yulee all everything running back Derrick Henry rushed for 337 yards and finished the season with over 4200 rushing yards. Henry passed Travis Henry for the single season rushing record in FHSAA history.
University Christian traveled to Daytona Beach and came home with a 26-21 win over Warner Christian. The Christians will face Dade Christian Friday afternoon in Orlando for the 1A state championship. It's their first trip to the finals since 1994.
Ware County used a strong defensive effort to get past Stephenson 14-0. The Gators advance to the state semifinals where they will face Northside-Warner Robins. A coin flip this weekend will decide the site. The two teams last met in the 2007 state championship won by Northside-Warner Robins.
Fletcher, Bishop Kenny, Lake City Columbia and Camden County saw their season's come to an end.
Fletcher committed early turnovers and could never recover as Apopka rolled over the Senators 52-19.
Lake City Columbia rallied from 14 points down to tie Navarre at 21 in the 4th quarter before Navarre pulled the game out late 28-21. The Tigers finish the season 11-2.
Bishop Kenny started strong but quarterback John Wolford had two interceptions in the first half that led to 10 points and Tallahassee Godby never looked back in a 64-29 win over the Crusaders.
Camden County took a 20-19 lead over Norcross two minutes into the 2nd half but that's the last time the Wildcats would score and the Blue Devils won 34-20. Wildcats finish the season 11-2.
