JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Keith Dawson rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns, and Jacksonville scored 24 first-quarter points to put the game away early in a 40-14 victory against Campbell on Saturday afternoon.

Dawson's 21-yard scoring run got the Dolphins started, and Orlando Thomas and Johnnie Hick also ran for TDs in the first quarter. Dawson's rushing total tied him for third on the Dolphins' all-time single game list.

The Dolphins (7-3, 5-2 Pioneer Football League) rushed for 333 yards and rang up 503 yards of total offense versus the Camels' 178 yards. So dominant was Jacksonville's defense that Campbell (1-9, 0-7) converted only one first down on 12 third-down opportunities.

After reaching a 31-7 advantage, the Dolphins substituted freely. Eight players carried the ball, seven caught passes, and backup quarterback Trevius Folson completed more passes (seven) than starter Steven Hughes (five).

The victory halted Jacksonville's two-game losing streak.
