JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

It took a day, but the Jaguars made their first free agent signing of 2013 as they agreed to terms with LB Geno Hayes.

Hayes has plenty of ties to the new coaching staff having spent 2012 with the Bears under new defensive coordinator Bob Babich as well as 2008 with the Bucs and Gus Bradley when he was the linebackers coach there.

Not only does the new Jaguars signee have connections to the new coaches, but he has local ties as well, playing at Florida State from 2005 to 2008 and graduating from Madison County High School before that.

Hayes has 292 tackles in 71 career games including 7 sacks, and 4 interceptions with 1 career touchdown.
