Reports: Tebow to Jaguars rumors false

Several major media outlets have debunked a report from Action News in Jacksonville that the Jaguars have had trade talks with the New York Jets regarding quarterback Tim Tebow.

The report came with the NFL's 4 p.m. Thursday trade deadline looming.

There were several Tebow sightings in his hometown of Jacksonville on Tuesday night. The Jets have a bye this week.

The Jaguars battled the Jets for Tebow when the quarterback was on the trading block from Denver earlier this year. According to reports, Tebow chose the Jets.

The Jaguars subsequently said they were committed to developing second-year QB Blaine Gabbert.

Jets coach Rex Ryan has reemphasized his commitment to Mark Sanchez as the team's starting quarterback, despite his struggles this season. He has said Sanchez gives his team the best chance to win games.

Tebow was part of two national championship teams at the University of Florida, and many have speculated the Jaguars would sell more tickets with the "hometown hero" on the sidelines.

The Jags have not had a TV blackout since 2009.
