One Alabama couple are such big fans of the University of Alabama that when it came time to name their newborn son, there was only one choice: Krimson Tyde.

That is what Summer and Steven Steele of Andalusia, Ala., named their son, born Dec. 17, in honor of the school's football team, according to a report from the Alabama Media Group.

"The reason we named him Krimson is that we are big Alabama fans and it is a very unique name and we loved it," Summer Steele said in the report.

The couple also has two other sons, Trenton and Dawson.

Krimson, who weighed in at 7 pounds and 5 ounces, is hardly the first baby to be named honoring an Alabama college team. According to the Social Security Administration, 25 girls were named Crimson and six were named Auburn in 2012. There were also five girls names Krimson and five more named Kyrmson in 2012.

While the name has been met with disapproval in social media, Summer Steele said she was surprised but doesn't care.

"To people speaking negatively about us naming him Krimson, it's not their child nor family member so if they have nothing nice to say they don't need to say nothing at all," Steele said.
