Bortles impresses at Jaguars scrimmage

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Blake Bortles is only a rookie but he did not look like it under the lights as the Jaguars scrimmaged at Everbank Field.

Bortles completed 9 of his 13 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. His big play of the night came on a 25-yard over the shoulder pass to Mike Brown to start the second series.

"It was cool to go out there and go through getting play calls from Jedd (Fisch) on the sidelines," said Bortles. "It was cool to go through game situations but gotta get better and continue to improve."

"He had really good poise back there," said Gus Bradley of the Jaguars' first-round draft pick.

Chad Henne was 14 of 22 for 75 yards including a 12-yard pass to Marqise Lee on the first play of the scrimmage.

The Jaguars get a much needed off-day on Sunday before returning to practice on Monday morning. The team's first preseason game comes next Friday at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
