California Chrome wins Kentucky Derby

LOUISVILLE, KY -

The 140th running of the Kentucky Derby saw pre-race favorite California Chrome pull away down the stretch for a dominant win. The unofficial time was 2:03.66. Commanding Curve finished second and Danza finished third.

California Chrome was a 5-2 favorite prior to the race. Art Sherman became the oldest winning Derby trainer at the age of 77.

The second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness, will be held May 17th in Baltimore at Pimlico.
