BALTIMORE -

California Chrome captured the second leg of the Triple Crown by winning the Preakness Stakes in an unofficial time of 1:54.84. Chrome can become the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Triple Crown.

California Chrome becomes the 34th horse to win the first two legs of the Triple Crown. Only 11 horses have pulled off the feat.

In 2008, Big Brown finished last in the Belmont after winning the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.

Ride On Curlin finished second and Social Inclusion took third.

The third leg of the Triple Crown, the Belmont, is set for June 7th.
