GREEN BAY, Wis. -

Phil Dawson kicked a 33-yard field goal as time expired as the 49ers escaped the Packers 23-20 in a frigid NFC wild-card game.

The frozen tundra of Lambeau Field lived up to its name where temperatures hit five degrees at kickoff and severe winds made it feel like minus 10.

Colin Kaepernick threw for 227 yards and ran for another 98 to go along with one passing touchdowns. Kaepernick ranks fifth in NFL postseason history for rushing yards by a quarterback.

With the Packers trailing 20-17, Mason Crosby tied the game with a 24-yard field goal with 5:06 to play in the game.

The 49ers will move on to face Carolina in the next round of the playoffs.
