Already 133 players have officially qualified for The Players as of April 1. There are three ways remaining for those not otherwise qualified to gain entry into the field. Winning a PGA Tour event; moving into the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking as of April 27th; or moving into the top 10 in the FedExCup standings as of April 27th.
Currently there are 10 players in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking and four more in the FedExCup standings who are not otherwise qualified for The Players. Those players are: Victor Dubuisson, Hideki Matsuyama, Jamie Donaldson, Thomas Bjorn, Stephen Gallacher, Miguel A. Jimenez, Gonzalo Fdez-Castano, Joost Luiten, Francesco Molinari, Thongchai Jaidee, Will MacKenzie, Russell Knox, Ryo Ishikawa and Brendon Todd.
The field this year will include Kenny Perry, the winner of last year's Constellation Senior Players Championship. The field will fill to a minimum 145 players, if needed players not otherwise qualified in the FedExCup standings will make up the remainder of the field.
Will Mackenzie and local player Russell Knox are currently the next two players who could gain entry via this year's FedExCup standings.
