JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It's been a Jacksonville tradition for nearly 70 years, and now the leaders of the Gator Bowl and the city are working to extend their partnership.

The current lease expires in 2016.

The Gator Bowl Association wants a four-year extension to that lease.

This year's game on New Year's Day matched up Northwestern and Mississippi State.

The Gator Bowl says an extension to 2020 would match the contracts it's trying to work out with college football conferences for the matchups for the game.
