Jaguars complete day 1 of training camp

Jones-Drew says it feels good to be back on the field

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The first practice of training camp is in the books for the 2013 Jacksonville Jaguars.

"We're back to football," said head coach Gus Bradley. "One of the things I mentioned to the guys was it's going to be uncomfortable. A lot of the same messages from our first team meeting back in April 92 days ago were stated last night."

Friday's practice also brought the return of Maurice Jones-Drew. The Jaguars running back missed 10 games in 2012 because of a Lisfranc injury to his left foot. He underwent surgery in December and was cleared to practice earlier this week.

"Throughout this summer, that was kind of the goal to get me ready for training camp," said Jones-Drew.  "The main thing for me is to get back to getting a carry, come back. Get another carry, come back. That's the main thing."

Jones-Drew's head coach liked what he saw from his star running back.

"We have a plan for Maurice and to see him make some cuts and to see him go through the line, catch some balls in practice, he's right where we thought he would be," said Bradley. "It was great to see him back. He's been waiting for this day for a long time."

Friday's practice is the first of eight straight practices open to the public. The team will practice on Saturday morning at 9:55 AM.
