Marcedes Lewis' end to 2013 was better than his beginning. A calf injury sidelined the Jaguars tight end for six games. But he responded with four touchdowns in the final five games to end the season.

"It just felt good to be out there and able to work and get better every week," said Lewis. "Obviously it didn't start the way i wanted it to last year but it finished up pretty well."

The Jaguars finished just 4 and 12 in 2013. And the team has only made the playoffs once in Lewis' eight seasons in the NFL. But there's excitement surrounding this organization.

"Last year it felt really good," said Lewis. "You feel something and you think that it can't get any better. But this year is better than last year. Just everyone on the roster. The energy we have. The way we can count on each other. Just a different feel."

Lewis is one of the veterans of the offense and his leadership will be called upon this fall.

"What I like about Marcedes is he's stepped up his leadership," said head coach Gus Bradley. "You can see him helping those guys in the position group. He's one guy that we're counting on and he's coming through."
