Sen'Derrick visits Boys & Girls Club

The Jaguars defensive lineman's message to the kids was to achieve success, you have to stick with it.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At over six feet tall and over 300 pounds, Jaguars defensive lineman Sen'Derrick Marks looks anything like a big kid.

Until you get him around some.

Marks spoke to the Boys and Girls Club at the Youth Educational Town Tuesday afternoon and it was hard to see who was having more fun.  "This is one of my favorite things to do," said Marks.  "Gus (Bradley) always preaches connect with the following, I love it."

The message to the 100 plus kids that were in attendance was one of perseverance.  Growing up in Mobile, Alabama, Marks said he had no idea what success looked like.  Not until he went to college at Auburn did Sen'Derrick see that he can make a difference.

"It brings me closer to the kids when they ask me questions like, 'How did you decide to play football?' and things like that.  It's touching to me.

After his speech, the boys and girls showed Marks a game he had never heard before called nine-square.  "We will see how the knee holds up," joked Marks.  The defensive lineman tore his ACL six months ago, and says the rehab process is going better than he originally thought.

"I think we are coming along with it.  I can't say what exactly is going to happen in the next two months but I think I am going to be pretty ready for it."

The Jaguars report for training camp on July 30th.
