UF campus reaction to Grier's suspension

Gators face No. 6 LSU on Saturday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The vibe on the University of Florida campus, following the season long suspension of starting quarterback Will Grier was one of disbelief. With a record of 6-0 on the season the Gators are in unfamiliar territory. It's the first time they've equaled that starting mark since the 2012 season.

The most interesting part of my trip to Gainesville was the mixed reaction of the campus regarding their confidence in backup quarterback Treon Harris. "Our season is over" said one student. Others expressed faith that the Gators will adopt the next man up mentality and will rally behind Harris.

Harris has been in this position before. The sophomore started the final six games of the 2014 season and the Gators went 4-2 with Harris under center.

This season has been a mixed bag of results for Harris. He started the season opener and split reps with Grier until the third game of the season. In limited action Harris has passed for 215 yards and two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Harris will have to get up to speed in a hurry. The Gators have a huge game at No. 6-ranked LSU on Saturday.
