Childhood obesity

It's clear divorce can be emotionally difficult for kids. But did you know that it could also be making them fat?

According to a new study, kids with divorced parents are nearly twice as likely to be obese.

The researchers looked at more than 3,000 Norwegian children. They recorded the kids' weight and their parents' marital status. Researchers found obesity was most common among divorced families.

One explanation is children with separated parents spend more time alone with unsupervised access to the fridge.
