Quieter weather precedes return of winter chill

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the start of your work week, there's a small chance that you'll be singing the Carpenter's ''Rainy days and Monday's. Current projections have a very slight chance of rain (20 to 30%) for Monday. Here is your Monday weather outlook.

The weather is going to remain unsettled through the rest of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before a late-season cold front sweeps through ushering back the return of winter in good 2014 fashion.

You certainly didn't think that one of the harshest winter's in years was going to  give up that easy did you?

Expect your Monday to maintain cloudy skies with high temperatures reaching up into the lower 70s with a few splash and dash rain showers. The chance of rain will maintain for Tuesday and spike on Wednesday as another disturbance rolls through ahead of the cold front.

Patchy but dense morning fog will greet you the next few mornings as very damp ground and cool mornings will combine to condense that moisture near the ground. Dense fog advisories may be needed heading into Monday night.

Temperatures will then struggle to get out of the 50s on Wednesday and struggle to get out of the mid 50s by Thursday.

It was a Sunday soaker! One destroyed shed, four dead cows, tens of thousands of lightning bolts, numerous trees down and several inches of rain rounded out the weekend for many. It'll be a quieter start to Monday before winter returns by the end of the week!

An impressive storm system, which went overlooked by many of our numerical guidance models, produced quite a bit of damage across portions of southern Putnam county on Sunday afternoon along with a widespread soaking for everybody.

It is not known at this time whether a tornado actually touched down or not in Putnam and Flagler counties but a tornado warning was in effect by mid afternoon.

The picture above from @LuLuCornbread's twitter feed shows what appears to be either a funnel cloud or a tornado on the ground just west of the Daytona International Speedway which had to be evacuated at the height of the storm. There is no confirmation whether anything actually touched down.

Thankfully Sunday's weather should not repeat for your Monday.
