Governor appoints new 4th circuit judge

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Gov. Rick Scott announced Wednesday the appointment of Judge Angela Cox to the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court, which includes Clay, Duval and Nassau counties.

Judge Cox 42, of Jacksonville, has served as a Duval County Court Judge since 2005.

Cox fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Chief Judge Donald R. Moran Jr.

"As a county court judge, Judge Cox has demonstrated dedication to serving Florida families with dignity and integrity," Scott said in a statement. "I am confident she will continue to honorably serve as a Circuit Court Judge to families in the Fourth Judicial Circuit."

After graduating from Tennessee State University and receiving her law degree from the University Memphis School of Law,  she began her legal career in 1998 as an assistant state attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit.

Cox is a mentor with Take Stock in Children and has served as a Florida Judicial College faculty member since 2010.
