Kaymer goes wire-to-wire at US Open

PINEHURST, NC -

Martin Kaymer won his second major championship in a wire-to-wire finish at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst Number 2.

Kaymer wrapped up a 1-under 69 with a par putt on the 72nd hole to give him an eight-shot lead over second place finishers Erik Compton and Rickie Fowler. Kaymer finished the tournament with a 9-under-par 271.

Kaymer becomes the first player to win The Players Championship and the U.S. Open in the same year.
