JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Tim Tebow, who was cut from the New York Jets in April, will sign with the division rival New England Patriots, ESPN's Ed Werder reported Monday afternoon.

Werder, citing league sources, reported Tebow is expected to participate in minicamp Tuesday as a quarterback.

Channel 4 spoke with Tim Tebow fans Monday night who said they were excited for their favorite former Gator.

"I think it's great, I wish him great success," said Franklin Putnal.

Some people Channel 4 spoke with Monday said they really hoped that the Jaguars would have picked Tebow up.

"It would have been good for us, good publicity," said Nathan Leigh. "But I'm happy for him, he's a good, upstanding fellow and I wish him all the best."

"He should have been here, especially since he loves Jacksonville," said Kouvaris Jones.

Fans and supporters agreed, Tebow is headed to a powerhouse NFL team.

"That's a dynasty team, so they might get a ring," said Jones.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, Mark Brunell told Channel 4 Tebow's move is a win-win for him and the Patriot's head coach.

"I think it's a great decision, said Brunell. "I think he will do very well. I think Bill Belichick has been a big fan of his for some time and now he's got him."

Tebow was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2010, leading them to the playoffs and a first-round victory in his second season.

He was traded to the Jets in 2012, but failed to see hardly any playing time last season. He was cut in late April.

Tebow will now be reunited with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who drafted him in the first round in Denver while head coach.
