Nearly two years after a girl was critically injured in a car crash in Duval County, her familyโs attorneys have filed a civil lawsuit against Honda, saying the familyโs minivan had dangerous design flaws.

JFRD: One person rescued in crash on that sent 2 to the hospital
One person had to be extricated from a vehicle following a car crash on Normandy Blvd, near I-295. Eastbound traffic on Normandy Blvd. remained at a standstill for more than an hour as fire crews rescued one person trapped in one of the vehicles involved. JFRD says one person was extricated from a vehicle at 6:29 p.m. All lanes on Normandy Blvd are open once again.
Bomb threat investigation closes Westside intersection for hours Saturday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Fouraker Road was closed for more than two hours Saturday as the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office investigated a possible bomb threat on the Westside. According to JSO, officers rushed to a gas station on Normandy on Lamplighter Lane around 2:45 p.m, after a man made a bomb threat at the store. Witnesses told police the man then left in a recreational vehicle. They pulled two people out of the vehicle and called the bomb squad. News4Jax was also told by witnesses that nearby buildings were evacuated while the bomb squad was checking the RV.

Man trapped in crash near Cecil Airport dies
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ One man is dead and another is injured early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Nathan Hale Road at Normandy Boulevard. One occupant was thrown from the vehicle but the other became pinned underneath the car when the vehicle overturned after impact. They tried to lift the car off of the man who was trapped but wasnโt able to. I kept trying to explain to him, โNo we canโt do that. If he is still alive, itโs not going to be good,'โThe man trapped in the wreckage died at the scene.
Family hoping for justice after man, 66, killed in hit-and-run crash

I was very upset when I heard the news,โ Frederick Thompson, David Thompsonโs brother, told News4Jax on Monday. David Thompsonโs family is now hoping for justice. Troopers: Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run crash on Normandy Boulevard
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A bicyclist was killed Wednesday night in a hit-and-run crash on Normandy Boulevard, according to a spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol. Dylan Bryan said troopers were working to track down the car that was involved. The crash happened near the intersection of McGirts Point Boulevard. Details surrounding the crash were not immediately clear. A crash report from the Highway Patrol was said to be forthcoming.

JSO: Woman shot while driving through Jacksonvilles Westside

Violent crimes investigators are taking the lead on an investigation in which a woman was shot in the hand while driving early Wednesday morning. The shooting happened just after midnight near the intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Yellow Water Road. Police said a woman was driving when, for unknown reasons, the truck she was driving became the target of gunfire. One of the bullets passed through the windshield and struck the drivers hand. A friend was in the passenger seat of the vehicle at the time was not hurt.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A major crash shut down I-295 southbound at Normandy Boulevard Friday just before noon. Jacksonville Fire Rescue reported multiple injuries and said at least one person is in serious condition. Several emergency departments and vehicles could be seen responding. At least three civilian vehicles showing major damage were loaded onto a tow truck. The crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. All lanes were shut down for about 45 minutes.

Man in life-threatening condition after head-on crash on Herlong Road
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two people were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon near Herlong Recreational Airport, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. A white SUV and a dark-colored SUV collided head-on about 4:30 p.m. on Herlong Road near Normandy Boulevard, police said. The man driving the dark-colored SUV was taken to an area hospital, where he was in life-threatening condition at last check, police said. According to police, the woman driving the white SUV was also taken to a hospital, where she was reportedly in stable condition. Man injured in Labelle Street shooting
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 26-year-old man shot just before midnight on Labelle Street just off Normandy Boulevard drove himself to UF Health Jacksonville, according to a report by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. A witness told News4Jax there were up to 10 gunshots in front of an apartment at Valencia Way, formerly known as Eureka Gardens. Police called found several shell casings, but no victim only to learn Kevin Bush had walked into the emergency room with a gunshot wound. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Three children were among five people injured Monday afternoon in a chain-reaction crash that closed all westbound lanes of Normandy Boulevard. All three children were in the initial, rear-end crash on Normandy at Manning Cemetery just before 2 p.m. and one of those had life-threatening injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Pedestrian struck on Normandy Boulevard dies of his injuries
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 36-year-old Jacksonville man died early Tuesday after he was struck by a car while crossing the road. It happened shortly after midnight as Brian Bennett was walking across Normandy Boulevard near Doloma Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said Bennett was outside of the marked crosswalk when he walked into the path of a Chevrolet Impala traveling in the right lane and was struck. Police: 2 sought in armed robbery at Normandy Arcade
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two people are sought in connection with an armed robbery this week at an adult cafe in Normandy, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. On Thursday, the Sheriff's Office released surveillance images of the man and woman accused of robbing the Normandy Arcade on Normandy Boulevard, just west of Cassat Avenue, about 10:40 a.m. Sunday. Thirty seconds later, according to police, both pulled out guns and ordered everyone in the arcade to get on the ground. The Sheriff's Office said the woman demanded money and collected it, and the man took the gun from the belt of the security guard near the front door before they both took off.
