Moped crash
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A man is in critical condition after being hit by a pickup truck while driving a moped on the Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Two mopeds were headed Northbound on Main Street near Winona Drive around 4:15 p.m. Saturday when a Ford pickup truck going Southbound tried to cross the road.

The pickup struck one of the mopeds, throwing the 56-year-old man off. The other moped was not hit.

The driver of the truck is a 71-year-old man and is cooperating with investigators, according to JSO.

JSO says the man thrown off the moped was taken to UF Shands where he is in critical condition.

Speeds are unknown at this time and charges are pending.

We will update this story if more information becomes available.
