Michael Daniel Johnson Jr., 25, was found guilty in Jacksonville on Friday of second degree attempted murder.
Johnson was convicted in June 2012 of the attempted murder of Edward James in September 2010. He was sentenced to life in prison.
The Appellate court later reversed that conviction and sentence because of an error in the jury instructions.
Following a retrial on the charges, Johnson was convicted Friday. He will be sentenced the week of June 30 and faces life in prison.
The charges stemmed from a September 2010 incident in which Johnson and James got into an argument in front of James' Mecca Street home. During the argument, Johnson pulled out a gun and pointed it at James. As James turned away, Johnson shot him in the lower back area. James later recovered from the injuries.
